Commanding the Century

Lead your nation through a hundred years of war. Start with horse and cart and trenches in 1914, and finish with stealth fighters, satellites and kamikaze drones. Real-time strategy in the spirit of Age of Empires, played over your own network.

One century, five ages

From Pickelhaube to F-35

You start in the Great War and advance through the century at your headquarters. Every age replaces your entire army: your units are refitted on the spot to the latest model, and your buildings take on the architecture and weapons of the new era.

A living battlefield

Every soldier, every shot, every sunset

Commanding the Century runs in full 3D, with an angled camera just like Age of Empires. You can rotate, tilt and zoom in until you see the shell casings fly from the breech.

  • Day and night: the sun sets, lanterns and windows light up, tanks drive with their headlights on and soldiers grab their torches.
  • Trenches and bunkers: dig in, order your men to go prone, occupy a village church.
  • Real work crews: from a draught horse with a cart to a DAF tipper truck with an excavator.
  • Buildings that burn: soot, fire, smoke and collapsing walls, with rubble that stays where it falls.

Choose your flag

Every army plays by the same rules, but each nation has its own face: its own uniforms for every age, its own architecture, its own motorcycles, jets and drones, and soldiers who answer in their own language. On top of that there is the fictional Desert Front, with very different rules.
